It is with great sadness that I inform you of the death of Brother Kevin Hargis of Joliet Fire Officers, Local 2369. Brother Hargis passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 29th, 2024. Brother Hargis was 52 years old, and is survived by his wife.
Although this is NOT an activation, Joliet Officer’s Local and Brother Hargis’ family would like to have Honor Guard members participate at his services. His services are as follows: 
Visitation: Monday, July 8th, 2024, from 1500hrs to 2000hrs at Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home- 2320 Black Rd., Joliet, IL 60435. There will be a uniformed personnel walk-through at 1830hrs. Honor Guard members should arrive no later than 1800hrs.
Services: Tuesday, July 9th, 2024, at 1000hrs at Cathedral of St. Raymond- 604 N. Raynor Ave., Joliet, IL 60435.
Burial: Tuesday, July 9th, 2024, immediately following the services at Woodlawn Memorial Park II- 23060 W. Jefferson St., Joliet, IL 60431.

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the duty related death of Brother Tim S. Evans of Mt. Prospect Firefighters, Local 4119. Brother Evans passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 30th, 2024. Brother Evans was 60 years old, and is survived by his wife, Sandy, and children Cole and McKenna.

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the death of Captain Dan Kilian of the West Dundee Fire Department. Captain Kilian was a charter member of the West Dundee Professional Firefighters Union, Local 4882, and was a past President as well. Captain Kilian passed away on March 10th, from cancer. Captain Kilian was 46 years old, and is survived by his wife, Kristin and his six-year-old son, Noah.

Although this is NOT an activation, West Dundee’s Local and Captain Kilian’s family would like to have Honor Guard members participate at his services. His services are as follows:

Brother Sinclair passed away Friday, February 9th, 2024, after a battle with leukemia. Brother Sinclair was 37 years old. He is survived by his wife, Natalie, and sons Oliver and Mateo Garcia.

Brother Belanger passed away Friday, December 22nd after a battle with cancer. Brother Belanger was 45 years old. He is survived by his wife, Jamie, and sons Dakota (24), and Hunter (16).

Brothers and Sisters,

With great sadness, I want to inform you all of the passing of Brother Steven Diehl, South Elgin Professional Firefighters, Local 4833 (Retired). Brother Diehl was an active member of the AFFI Honor Guard.

Shortly after retirement, Brother Diehl was diagnosed with ALS. He succumbed to his disease early this morning. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the Line of Duty Death of Firefighter/EMT Andrew “Drew” Price of Chicago, Local 2.  Brother Price passed away on Monday, November 13th, from injuries sustained while battling a structure fire. Brother Price was 39 years old. He is survived by his wife.

 

By orders of AFFI President Chuck Sullivan, the AFFI Honor Guard is activated.
