Honor Guard Activation for Mike Altman

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the Line of Duty Death of Brother Mike Altman of Chicago, Local 2. Brother Altman passed away March 17th, 2026, from injuries he sustained while battling a structure fire on March 16th, 2026. Brother Altman was 32 years old. He is survived by his wife, Nora, who is expecting their second child, and his young son, Theo.

By orders of AFFI President Chuck Sullivan, the AFFI Honor Guard is activated.

Brother Altman’s services are as follows:
.
Visitation: Thursday, March 26th, 2026, from 1500hrs to 2000hrs at St. Rita of Cascia Chapel- 7740 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL 60620.

Uniformed Personnel Walk-Thru Thursday, March 26th, 2026, at 1900hrs at St. Rita of Cascia Chapel- 7740 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL 60620. Honor Guard members should arrive no later than 1800hrs.

Funeral Service: Friday, March 27th, 2026, at 1000hrs at St. Rita of Cascia Chapel- 7740 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL 60620. Honor Guard members should arrive no later than 0830hrs.
Ceremonial Honors will be given immediately following the service. All members are requested to remain until the services have concluded and the family departs.

CFD Honor Guard has asked that we do what we can to help show a strong presence for Brother Altman’s family as he is brought into, and out of, the funeral service at St. Rita.

Interment: Private.
