This week, several members are attending the #IAFF Political and Communications Training Academies in Maryland.
Brothers from City of Rockford Firefighters Local 413, Joliet Firefighters Local 44, Chicago Fire Department Firefighters Union - Local 2, and Champaign Firefighters Local 1260 were able to meet with IAFF President Edward A. Kelly yesterday!

The Orland Professional Firefighters suffered a very unfortunate accident to one of our firefighters. During a routine training exercise at the fire department, Firefighter Razek fell from a ladder while exiting a second-floor window. The accident resulted in several severe injuries, requiring surgery and extensive medical treatment. As Moe begins his journey toward healing, he needs our support now more than ever.
The Yard Foundation has teamed up with the Orland Firefighters to help Mo and his family in this time of need. We appreciate any help. Thank you for your support.

On behalf of Battalion Chief Mark Ashby and the EMS Service Officers. UFD would like to recognize those involved in a cardiac arrest save during the Illinois Marathon.
Each year, City of Champaign Fire Department and the City of Urbana Fire Department send members as EMS resources during the marathon. They are paired together and are available to respond to emergencies within and around the racecourse. This year Utility 281 was UFD FF Calvins Kerns and CFD FF Sean Manuel.
Description: On April 27th around 9:30am, U281 was dispatched to Meadowbrook Park for a male patient in cardiac arrest. The patient was a participant in the Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon. Upon arrival, U281 found the male lying on the trail pulseless. AMT’s ALS2 cart started CPR, and U281 quickly and efficiently deployed the Lucas CPR Device. U281 then continued to assist the medic unit with life-saving measures. U281 and AMT were able to achieve a return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). The patient was alert and talking to first responders on the way the hospital. The swift actions and teamwork between event staff, first responders, and bystanders lead to a positive outcome.
