It is with great sadness that I inform you of the death of Brother Gavin Schlarmann of Highland EMS, Local 3672. Brother Schlarmann passed away in an off-duty traffic crash on Thursday, August 21st, 2025. Brother Schlarmann was 21 years old. He is survived by his parents, Carl and Kay Schlarmann.

Although this is NOT an activation, Highland EMS, Local 3672, and Brother Schlarmann’s family would like to have Honor Guard members participate in his services. His services are as follows:

Visitation: Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, from 1600-2000hrs, at Merideth Funeral Home- 1223 Broadway St., Highland, IL 62249. Local 3672 is asking the AFFI Honor Guard for assistance with Casket Guard during this time.

Uniformed Personnel Walk-Thru: Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, at 1900hrs, at Merideth Funeral Home- 1223 Broadway St., Highland, IL 62249. Honor Guard members should arrive no later than 1830hrs. Uniformed personnel will stage across the street at the Highland EMS Station, 1222 Broadway. Parking is available immediately west of the EMS Station at Kloss Furniture.

Visitation: Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, from 0900-1100hrs, at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church- 493 N. 2nd St., Breese, IL 62230. Honor Guard members should arrive no later than 0830hrs.

Service: Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, at 1100hrs, at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church- 493 N. 2nd St., Breese, IL 62230.

Burial: Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, at Highland City Cemetery- 12301 Koepfli Ln., Highland, IL 62249. Personnel and apparatus are requested to form a corridor on Koepfli Ln north of Sportsman Rd, beginning at 1100 hours. The corridor will be in place by 1230 hours.
