As you know, the federal government is shut down and our IAFF Federal Firefighters have now gone without 2 paychecks. It is difficult to determine how many more they will go without. While they are not affiliated with our state association for multiple and legitimate reasons, they are IAFF brothers and sisters.

.

Here in Illinois, we have approximately 30 IAFF members at Rock Island Arsenal and approximately 40 members at Great Lakes Naval Station.

We want to be clear…. they DID NOT ask for this, the AFFI reached out to them asking how we could help. They then created the links below.

If you personally and your union local have the means to contribute, please consider assisting. These members continue to show up to work (72 hours a week) have rent or mortgages, utility bills, groceries and childcare to continue to pay for.

As you know, the IAFF is also doing everything they can and have an “Adopt a Local” program for ALL IAFF federal firefighters.

The AFFI knows our members and because we always step up, regardless of the circumstance, we are asking you to help our IAFF federal firefighters in Illinois just as you continue to do for our 17 members laid off in Harvey Local 471. Harvey Local 471 Go Fund Me link here:
