It is with great sadness that I inform you of the line of duty death of Brother John Morgan of Harlem-Roscoe Local 5575. Brother Morgan passed away Sunday May 31st, 2026 while on duty at the firehouse. Brother Morgan was 53 years old. He is survived by his partner; Jennifer and his children; Abigail, Emily, Sean, and Elizabeth.
By orders of AFFI President Chuck Sullivan, the AFFI Honor Guard is activated.
Brother Morgan’s services are as follows:
Visitation: Sunday, June 7th, 2026 from 1400-1800hrs, Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 North Alpine Rd. Machesney Park, IL 61115.
Uniformed Personnel Walk-Through: Sunday, June 7th, 2026 at 1700hrs, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 North Alpine Rd. Machesney Park, IL 61115. Honor Guard members should arrive no later than 1600hrs.
Funeral Mass: Monday, June 8th, 2026, at 1100hrs, at Harlem High School, 1 Huskie Circle, Machesney Park, IL 61115. A visitation will take place from 1000-1100hrs at the same location.
Graveside Service: Monday, June 8th, 2026, at 1200hrs, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Rd. Machesney Park, IL 61115 (the same location as the funeral home.)
Harlem-Roscoe Local 5575 has requested Honor Guard assistance with several roles at the funeral service.
We know this has been a taxing start to 2026. Your dedication to the Honor Guard never ceases to amaze us all. Please plan to be there and bring Local flags and tools for the services. This is when, “Whatever It Takes” is truly tested. I’m confident we will be there, together, to Honor, Cherish, Remember, and Salute Brother Zibell, his family, and his Local. |
