Your Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois and the We Are One Illinois Coalition took a significant step forward on continuing to improve our Tier 2 members benefits.
SB 1937 HFA # 2 would do the following.
1. Increase the COLA in retirement to 3% simple as opposed to the lessor of 1/2 CPI or 3%
2. Tie the pensionable salary to social security wage base.
3. Lower the age 3 years to be eligible to retire without penalty.
4. Clarify the definition of firefighter in Article 4.
5. Allow our EMS only locals who are in IMRF to be in IMRF-SLEP. A more public safety centric pension plan.
6. Allow our members who have creditable service in any of the other 16 different Illinois pension plans to transfer that time to their Article 4 fund.
