Educational Opportunities
Please take this opportunity to review two very important upcoming AFFI educational conferences in September 2022. We previously communicated that registration is open for both our AFFI New Member Conference and our New Local Union Officer Training. We are still accepting registrations for both these events to be held in Springfield at the Bank of Springfield Convention Center.
AFFI New Member Conference
The New Member Conference is scheduled for Monday, September 12th and Tuesday, September 13th, 2022. This conference kicks off at 9 am on the 12th. We encourage locals to invest in this education for their “newer” union members with less than 5 years on the job or those with an interest in getting more involved with their Union to attend this event. We had rave reviews after last year’s conference and guarantee this is a solid investment in your Locals’ future! The Cost for this event is $175 which includes all conference materials, meals, and one night of lodging at the Abraham Lincoln Double Tree Hotel. We have also included a joint reception with the New Officer Training this year! CLICK HERE for more information.
New Local Union Officer Training Seminar
The New Local Union Officer training is scheduled for Monday, September 12th beginning at 8:30 am and concluding with a reception that evening at the Abraham Lincoln Museum. We initially invited new local officers elected since October of 2021. We have now opened registration to any Local officer who has not attended previously or other Local Officers (i.e. Stewards, Trustees) who desire to attend the training to learn more about the responsibilities of being a Local Union Officer. This training is free to the Local Officer and includes one night of lodging. Any additional nights of lodging are the responsibility of the Local Officer. You may combine rooms with those attending the New Member Conference if applicable.
Please RSVP to Sue Smith for either event by September 1st, 2022.
Please contact Vice President Luke Howieson with any questions regarding these events.
